April 23rd Tamar Rally - Change of Venue Details

John Lidstone 1503
For reasons I will explain when you get here, would people attending the rally please not land on the publicised "shale beach near the high retaining wall on the west bank of Forder Lake".
Instead, please feel free to use a group of three drying moorings on the mud beach to the east side. The moorings are where I normally keep my trimaran (for those who came last year) but I will try to mark them in some recognizable way. The mooring lines are rigged from the sloping mud/shale bank out to the middle of the creek.
Please feel free to ring me when you arrive in the creek and I will point them out.

Regards

John

Dear All who intend to come to Forder for this rally this coming weekend.

At least one person I know hasn't seen the update I posted 3 weeks ago so here it is again, just in case:-

Instead of the publicised shale beach on the west side of the creek, please feel free to use a group of three drying moorings on the mud beach to the east side. The moorings are where I normally keep my trimaran (for those who came last year) but I will try to mark them in some recognizable way. Please feel free to ring me when you arrive in the creek and I will point them out.

I will book a table at a local pub if I can have some idea of the numbers, please?

Regards

John

Taking advantage of the goodish weather, I have embarked on a programme of boat maintenance. If the boat is back right way up and back together again I will be there. If not, not…. Sorry not to be more precise at this point.

If I do come I will probably launch at Saltash on Saturday evening and sail straight up to the rally rendezvous.

Thanks to all who got in touch. Last food order for Saturday at The Cecil Arms (St Stephen's Hill, Saltash PL12 4AR) is 2000. There is some flexibility on numbers so don't be put off- just let me know by around 1800.
Access to my mooring on east bank marked with DCA burgee is from around 1715 with 12" draught. Too much earlier and you'll be stepping off into deep mud.

Thanks to all who kept in touch about this rally and to all who attended. It was a pleasure.
There will be a brief rally report in the next issue of Dinghy Cruising.
In an effort to keep the forum tidy, I may shortly attempt to delete this thread.

Kind regards

John
