Carlingford Lough Drascombe Rally/ Feeder Cruise to Strangford

Carlingford Lough Rally to be based at Carlingford Lough Yacht Club on the northern side of the Lough just outside Rostrevor. See www.clyc.info for directions.
Friday 16th June, Welcome and launch. BYO Barbecue. Saturday, we will explore the islands and sheltered bays of the Lough as weather and tides permit, possibly observing the large seal population. Tides will suit for a visit to the historic port village of Greenore. Social night with Traditional Irish Dinner for hungry sailors on Saturday evening, music and singing. Sunday, more sailing on the Lough possibly centred around a fun event with club involvement and Monster Mussel Cookup sponsored by us the visitors. Sunday evening, haul out and goodbye for those not taking part in the feeder cruise to Strangford Lough.
Camp in the club grounds, live aboard or stay in the local accommodation. Suitable for small Drascombes. Club Bar. Hill walking in the Mournes may tempt some to bring their hiking boots and spend another day or two in this Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

For those cruising to East Down Yacht Club for the Strangford Lough Rally, Sunday evening will be an ideal time to meet up in the local refreshment establishments and plan our passage for the following few days. Potential stopovers include, Annagasin, Dundalk, Kilkeel, Annalong, Newcastle, Dundrum, Killough, Ballyhornan and Kilclief. Live aboard, camp ashore or shore support. Not suitable for smaller Drascombes. Transport to collect cars and trailers will be provided.

Some of the Drascombe members taking part are also DCA members and we would like to open this up to other DCA members.
