Carlingford Lough Rally and Cruise to Strangford Lough
Our 2019 Carlingford Lough Rally will run from Friday 15th June to Sunday 16th. We will be based at Carlingford Sailing Club in the village of Carlingford, Co Louth.
http://www.carlingfordsailingclub.net/ We will have the use of the toilet and shower facilities, parking for cars, trailers and camper vans. There is plenty of space for tents.
The club has its own bar and restaurant which we plan to use for evening meals and socializing. Open from 5 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Welcome and launching on Friday. Berthing in the harbour.
On Saturday we are hoping to make a special day for the Sailability group in Warrenpoint, the normal Saturday event there is using their Lugger, Iona to take the young people and their carers out for a sail around the bay for around half an hour, these trips are booked in advance and they are really enjoyed by all. We plan to arrive at Warrenpoint as a fleet and take all the participants out in one go in the boats that are willing for a few hours to enjoy what we do.

On Sunday we will explore the Lough as weather and tides permit, haul out for those leaving. Some may wish to extend the rally to take part in the first day or so of the following cruise.
Those wanting to book a B&B should note that there are a lot of hen and stag nights in the village at weekends, Carlingford House B&B is free from this, see https://carlingfordhouse.com/ run by sailors from the club. The usual Drascombe donation of 20 Euros for each boat to the club.
As this rally follows on from the Cork Harbour event, there may be some who would like to come early and enjoy the area, The Marina has a slip, pontoons, welcomes camper vans and has an Indian Restaurant. Lots of walking
opportunities as well as golf at Greenore.
The Strangford Feeder Cruise will follow on from the rally but the first day or so may still be spent in Carlingford Lough. The tide on Monday will allow a sail up the Clanrye River in to Newry. The sail to East Down Yacht Club could be done in a couple of days, we will take most of the week to do it to arrive in time for the Strangford Lough Rally stopping at suitable harbours and bays along the way. Some of us will probably want to sail back to Carlingford Lough again. Transport will be provided for those who need to get their vehicles and haul out at EDYC.
