SW Area St Germans Rally 27th/28th October 2018

John Lidstone 1503
I am hopeful for the weather for the weekend of this rally which we had to cancel last year due to high winds. The Quay Sailing Club have again kindly offered to open their comfortable bar for us on Saturday evening with pasties available. As published in the rally program, the club is just into the River Tiddy off the Lynher River. One plan is to dry out on the mud/shingle beach at SX 3637 5723  (or 50.3921 -4.3034) just beyond the club slipway by the lime kilns. Unlike the rally program, I make Saturday's HW to be 2005 BST 5.4m with sunset at 1803. Note that Sunday morning we will be into GMT.
The Lynher is a particularly beautiful sail and those starting lower down stream below the dockyards will pass some interesting vessels as they sail up. Just note that you need to stay at least 50m from warships or expect some attention from the River Police!
Would you please let me know if you are planning to attend (either in boats or cars) so that I can give the club an idea of numbers.
Thank you.

Hello John.

Both Rachel and I would like to come, maybe with Dave in the boat, it's all dependent on the weather making it enjoyable, so we will confirm a bit nearer the weekend.

Good wishes

Matt

That'll be great, Matt. If it's nice, I'll take the ebb down to Plymouth Sound in the morning and come back up late afternoon. Hope to see you somewhere along the way or finally at Quay SC.

John

If it is nice I propose to launch Friday Afternoon at Saltash. I will
go up river, with the flood, for the night then down to the sound and
back on Saturday.

If it is not nice .......

I aim to do something similar. But I’m unlikely to in the water until late Friday.

"If it's not nice..." Put your thermals on and close the hatch. I thought Little Jim was storm-proof. ..
Just got a new air pump, so see you Saturday!
